New Galleries Open!

As part of the Morris Museum’s major expansion, several new galleries are now open to our visitors and are filled with fascinating objects from the museum's collection, as well as photographs and sculpture on loan from area artists.

The largest of these galleries is located on the upper level and is currently showing pottery by Albert Green and a sampling of sculpture pieces, all part of the Morris Museum collection.  In addition, sculptor Sassona Norton returns with three magnificent pieces that add intense drama to the space after showing her work in the Main Gallery last year.

Another gallery features retrospective works by the late photographer Rubin Signer.  Signer captured every day life in his black and white photographs of New York’s lower east side during the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.  His straightforward and intimate images are poignant and enchanting.

The main level galleries showcase some of the museum’s rarely seen collection pieces as well as a visitor favorite from our collection, the Explorer’s Map, which is located just outside the Main Gallery.

New Jersey artist Janet Kipp Tribus is featured in the north gallery on the main level of the new addition.  Tribus’ works include bold, colorful landscapes and vibrant seacscapes.

We invite visitors to experience all the museum has to offer which includes opportunities to become involved in one’s surroundings on many different levels.

All the exhibitions were curated by Ann Aptaker and arranged under the guidance of collections manager Jenny Rebecca Martin.
