Explore the mysterious world of Cleopatra, the legendary last Queen of Egypt (69-30BC), at this premier exhibition containing more than 250 new artifacts from her life and ruling time. This exhibit was organized by National Geographic and Arts and Exhibitions International (formerly responsible for the King Tut exhibit). There have been recent underwater searches in the Bay of Aboukir of the Mediterranean Sea yielding treasures lost for centuries from the city and palace where Cleopatra ruled. In addition there are new artifacts excavated on land from tombs in the Alousir territory near Alexandria. All these findings teach us about the actual life and times of Cleopatra. Exhibit tour is on your own at 10:30 a.m. Lastly, we travel to Penn’s Landing to the Tall Ship Moshulu for a memorable lunch by a noted Chef (formerly from the Pierre Hotel in New York). We need 25 people by October 18 to run this trip.

Step back in time…Experience the splendor of Christmas. This holiday season, visit the historic houses in Fairmount Park for a unique yuletide event, and be inspired by these architectural masterpieces. We will enjoy docent tours of Woodford, Cedar Grove and Mount Pleasant. Our luncheon will be at the Water Works Restaurant where we will feast on mouthwatering cuisine while enjoying first-class service and breathtaking views of the Schuylkill River. The Fairmount Water Works, now a National Historic Landmark, was one of Philadelphia’s and America’s first municipal water delivery systems. Meeting the challenge set before him, engineer Frederick Graff, originally employed steam engines to lift water to the reservoir high atop Fair Mount – where the Philadelphia Museum of Art now stands. A self-guided mini-tour of the water works is available on the lower level of the restaurant. Jacket requested.
